Most probably window vista does support games but if you are planning to play the latest and a bit old games on window vista is not recommended because its still new in the market and most of the games in the market right now can't play on window vista. If window xp, I will guaranteed 100% because its very stable and can support all the games in the market.Besides that, some of the softwares too can't really support vista yet because it still new and even its can detect most of the drivers too.So plz consider first before changing into vista.

Vista does support games but that's other aspect that none are available (as far as my knowledge is concerned), even the hardware drivers for most of the vendors are not available.
Recently I wrote an article for my blog, which basically sums up Pros and Cons of Vista, you can read more at:
http://smart031279.spaces.live.com/?_c11_blogpart_blogpart=blogview&_c=blogpart&partqs=cat%3dComputers%2band%2bInternet
I also read in a PC world article at by the end of this year about 87% of the world PCs will have Windows XP whereas only 13% are likely to have Windows Vista.
Hope that helps!

Vista is more of a Mac style Microsoft Program, in that it is meant to support gaming, photos, and more "fun" kind of programs. While xp is more of a business kind of system, even the home version is more business like. Vista is also newer so any common bugs of xp are most likely fixed.

Vista xp
processor 800mhz 133 mhz
ram 512 mb 64mb
hdd space 15 gb 1.5 gb
XP is much safer, but vista can do things easier than xp.

Vista supports games very well as it is more of a graphical OS.
Vista has many more features to do with images and special effects .
