What happens if you buy a computer with pre-installed software and you have problems? Has anyone found out the hard way? Is it covered by warranty?

Nothing Wrong with preinstalled software as long as they supply you with the disks so you can reinstall it if you have to.

It would be covered. Now if it came with Vista installed, then have a long wait as a lot of programs are not VISTA READY yet, but getting there.

Yes, programs would be covered by warranty. What problems are you having?

I got cheated by arcamax india(a computer vendor), it is not covered under warranty and the vendor does not provide you separate bills on top of it they supply you pirated copies of softwares
So my suggestion is even if you take software from vendor, ensure that you get separate bills for all the software and preferably collect CDs as a proof

Not worth $50 to remove. (Do it yourself for free) Yes it does impact performance. Unless you plan on starting accounts with all the major ISPs (which startup with your PC) or really need your PC to signup with MSN / etc etc................ You can easily remove the programs yourself. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs Select programs you will never need and click [Remove] next to each. If any of this is over your head then spend the $50. (You might spend more than that in headaches if you mess up)

There shouldn't be any problems on it.

If it comes with errors, then send it back quickly and you get a better copy back.

A lot of software is junk or un-needed and you can remove easily to speed up and organise your computer.
