I speak both (although I am essentially fluent in German and not nearly so in Spanish), and I much prefer German. Since you already know English and French which are very important languages also, don't worry about whether German or Spanish is useful or not; think about which one you want to learn more. You'd hate to regret not learning the one that you wanted more.

I find German much harder than Spanish, but as an English speaker, perhaps it will come easier for you since English and German are similiar in many ways. As a native Russian/Ossetian speaker, I cannot say that learning German is easy for a native English speaker because I don't have such an experience. German is my favorite out of all of the languages I know though.

Besides, why can't you learn both of them? I've putzed a good part of my life away learning languages, and I know six now, and I've recently started trying to picking up Italian as a seventh (but I've only just started). It could be a hobby for you anyways much like Italian is for me at the moment.

Your French and Latin knowledge would make learning Spanish a breeze, while German is a Normadic language more associated with Eastern European languages like Russian, although many of the English vocabulary is littered in Germanic references.
Also, it depends a lot on what you plan to do with your language skills. Although Spanish is highly used in North and South America, there may be many more people that translate it into English than German to English, for example.
Why don't you skim through some websites in both languages and see which tickles your fancy more.

Spanish Newspapers: http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/argentin.htm

etc...
Have fun!

If you are going to use your language to speak with everyday people, then study SPANISH. More people speak Spanish, especially if you live in North America, Central America, or South America.

BUT if your going to use your language to read technical material, or for academic purposes then study GERMAN, not as many cultures worldwide speak German, but you'd be surprised at how much scholarly material and technical material (in Many Fields) are original in the German language.

It may depend on where you live, but Spanish is the primary language of the Western Hemisphere.

You already know one Romance language (French) and are studying Latin. Spanish should be your choice since it has its roots in Latin. It will be much easier for you to learn.
