All I know is the Chinese that live in the USA. My friends father used to be the head of the Chinese Mafia in this area. At least that is what he says. I wouldn't know myself. I do know that my friend does nothing but think and talk money and will do anything for money. I know I can't trust him one bit when it comes to money. Other wise he does brag a lot and I did think he was lying but it turns out he has some real estate investments he always denied. Weird story?

If you are talking specifically about street vendors trying to sell you stuff, then I am guarantee you they will try to rip you off. This is true in almost every country, that is why when shopping pay a little bit more & go to a reputable store to buy your silk, pearls or jade souvenirs.
In general I think Chinese people are more honest than say the blacks because it is their custom. Of course we should not judge everyone like this. Now I am waiting for my thumbs down.

Some Chinese people are honest, and some are dishonest. It depends on the person. It wouldn't be fair to give a generalization. I know a lot of very dishonest Chinese, while others, like me at times, are honest sometimes to the point of stupidity.

Whether you are honest or not, does not depend on which country you're from or your race. It depends on your personality, how you were brought up, what friends you mixed with.
To answer your question, there are honest & dishonest Chinese people. It all depends on how you get into contact with them. If you have a Chinese friend who's a cheater or a thief (but you didn't know it) & you mixed with him & his group, then obviously you'll meet many dishonest Chinese.

Like people all over the world there are some that are honest and others that are not. My niece went to China last year and told me that in her experience, the people that she dealt with were courteous, well meaning and honest.

more on dishonest than hosnest. Many Chinese are hungry to be rich. the rich wants to be richer. The richest wants the whole of china.So they will do anything under the sky to get rich.

My experience is that they are neither more, nor less, honest than anyone else. You should always deal with everyone on an individual basis.
