The windows operating system uses the hard disk as a ram when the ram capacity is very low. Even when the ram capacity is high the virtual memory will still be allotted even though it may not be used by the system until all the ram is filled with data.
You need not worry about it if you have atleast 512 mb of ram and you did not change the pagefile size . If you have less than 512 mb ram , then as suggested by one of the answers hit the windows+pause/break key and click the Advanced tab . Click the settings under performance.A new window will pop up and in that select advanced.In the bottom the total virtual memory size will be displayed.If you have 256 mb ram or even less then click change. Now select custom size . In the initial size enter around some 750 mb and in the maximum size you can give a value much higher.

what is Virtual Memory :-
windows use a file in the hard disk called (page File) or virutal memory . window use this file to make extra memory avilible to the system and programes even if u have low realy memory (RAM) in ur computer (but will make ur pc slower) .

u can solve this problem by
installing more Ram in ur pc . spicaly if u have less than 1 GB of RAM i haighly recomend upgrading ur pc with extra RAM (it is very cheap thes days.

or if u dont want to spend any money
increasing the page file. go mycopmuter icon right clock and in advanced tap click on performance settings then select advanced tap. click on virtual memory change

Increase your Virtual memory by selecting Advanced tab from My Computer Properties...

Don't worry!! it's too easy to improve virtual memory. Just right click on My Computer icon on your Desktop. A window will appear, click on ADVANCED tab, underPerformance title click on Settings button. Now choose Advanced tab from new window. Click on Change button in the new window. Select any drive type desired number and click on Set button. Now close all the windows and Reboot your PC. The amount of memeory can be selected from range given in the same window

Hit the windows logo, and Pause/Break at the same time on the keyboard...this will bring up sysem properties....

Hit the advanced tab...

In the top box titled "Performance"....hit the settings button...

In this next box....hit the Advanced Tab.

At the bottom, change your virtual memory settings...

digital reminiscence would not confer with the ram chips on your pc digital reminiscence used annoying tension area to stimulate ram while you're low on annoying tension area then that message will arise.

You have to small ram in you computer. Clean hard disk drive(System partition)

either not enough memory and add some, bad stick and replace it or virus or program conflict...i would address the issues in that order.

you can do this by increasing your 'C' drive space
