Do a buffet style dinner where you have a few different dishes. eg small dishes of vegetables, meats, rice, pasta. He is bound like something you've done.

Well if you have no clue what the person likes or dislikes, can or can't eat, will or wont eat and have no way of finding out prior to the date then this is what I would do.

I would make some self assembly food. Something like a pizza where you have the base ready and a good selection of toppings. Toppings to suit any allergy, any taste and vegans and vegetarians alike. You could apply the same theory to making a stir fry or even the humble sandwich (which need not be so humble) of course making sure you have wheat free bread. This will make sure that you don't go out of your way making something that wont be eaten and also ensure that nothing goes to waste as what doesn't get used can go back in the fridge and be used by you at a later date.

I would provide a selection of side salads. Maybe a potato salad, green leaf etc. I would also have something like a chocolate fondue for dessert with fruit, marsh mellows etc for dunking.

This D.I.Y food option is also a great ice breaker and a lot of fun.

Realistically though I doubt I would invite someone into my home on the first date.

Spag bog, you cant go wrong. Everyone likes it.

If your not sure if he is a veggie make two he will be impressed.

Its not any harder, when i make spag bog i always to do because im the veggie. Cook a big batch of veggie up with lots of peppers and mushrooms i like carrot and sweetcorn which ever takes your fancy. Then when you put the pasta on cook the mince and pour half the veggie one in the other saucepan.

Oh yeah dont for get the grated cheese and garlic bread.

Hope this helps and good luck with your blind date.

:)

Oh yeah this is really easy, and most of the cooking can be done before anyone gets there, my boyfriend says he prerfers it if i cook it the day before he eats as all the flours are absorbed, so there is another idea then just pop on the stock heat the water for pasta thats all you have to do whilst your guests are there.

Please let us know how it goes :)

Stir-fried Noodles, which is quick and easy and its shows that you can cook and that you have made an effort without making too much of an effort.

Do this recipe
4 oz (110 g) rice noodles
6 Chinese dried mushrooms
1 heaped tablespoon Chinese dried shrimps
2 tablespoons groundnut or other flavourless oil
1 medium onion, chopped small
2 rashers streaky bacon, chopped small
1 large garlic clove, chopped
1 heaped teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 level dessertspoon Madras curry powder
½ level teaspoon salt
2 oz (50 g) cooked chicken or pork, finely shredded
2 oz (50 g) peeled prawns, chopped into thirds
4 spring onions, finely chopped, including green parts
1½ tablespoons soy sauce (Japanese is best)
2 tablespoons dry sherry

First of all, you need to soak the dried mushrooms and shrimps – to do this place them in a jug and pour boiling water over them and leave them aside to soak for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, you can get on with all the chopping of the other ingredients. After the mushrooms and shrimps have soaked, drain off the water, reserving 2 tablespoons of it for later. Give the mushrooms a squeeze and chop them into fine shreds. Now place the noodles in a large bowl, cover them with warm water and leave them to soak for 15 minutes.

Next, heat the oil in the wok and when it's very hot add the chopped onion and mushrooms, soaked shrimps, the chopped bacon, garlic and ginger. Stir them round in the hot oil, then reduce the heat and gently let all the ingredients cook together for about 15 minutes. This initial slow cooking allows all the delicious flavours and aromas to permeate the oil. After 15 minutes, add the curry powder and salt to the cooked ingredients, then drain the noodles in a colander – give them a really good shake to get rid of any excess water. Then turn the heat under the pan up to medium, add the chicken, then the fresh prawns, followed by the chopped spring onions. Next add the drained noodles to the pan, then, using either a large fork or some chopsticks, toss the ingredients around so that everything is incorporated amongst the noodles. Finally, sprinkle in the combined mushroom water, soy sauce, and sherry, give everything a good stir and serve immediately on hot plates

That is bizarre. Cooking for someone on the first date. Its not cool from the get go. You don't know this person. You are inviting them into your home. Its pretty hard not to come across as being too keen.

My advice is to tell your friend you don't mind meeting this person for a coffee or a drink but that is it!

Don't bother about what they like to eat. YOU are inviting them to enjoy your hospitality. I don't expect my friends to tailor their food choices on what I like. Show her the real you, just cook something you like, if she doesn't then you can have something to laugh about. Maybe it will even get you lucky hehe

But if you are forced to cook, I would make the whole thing totally light-hearted. Just do what you normally do when you cook. Answer the door like its your friend coming over and don't make it romantic or go to any trouble. Just make it easy.

Maybe some doritos and dips when you are sitting around. Then a very simple main. Maybe some icecream and choc sauce for desert. Maybe a cheap wine with dinner, offer them a beer or coke at the start.

Then cofffee, at which point they should get the hint to go. Kiss on the cheek. Hopefully you will have found out enough to know whether to proceed with her. That is the objective- so be natural.

Take him/her to a restaraunt and make your friends pay for it since they are the ones that arranged the date. That way the person could pick what they liked and if you had another date you would have an idea of what sort of home cooked meal to make for them

I would probably make some chicken parmesan with pasta. If the person is a vegetarian, then I'd make vegetable lasagna or eggplant parmesan. I would choose this because it's not over the top hard, it's something most people like and it's a meal that has a lot of charm and goes great with a good bottle of red wine.

I would do some grilled chicken with a light salad and potatoes. This is the sort of meal most people will like.
If they turn out to be vegetarian then just give them the potatoes and salad, it will be a decent enough meal. I am a vegetarian and like meals like this. Most people do eat chicken though and it is an easy meat to cook.
Stay away for anything unusual or strongly flavoured, fish or pork (the might be Jewish or a Muslim).

I would Marinate Chicken in Teryaki sauce for 30min so I could prep some Pineapple chunks, Dice up some Mild yellow onion and some cilantro, Mix it with some Teriyaki sauce. Put my Chicen in a long pan or something you can bake in. Preset my oven at 350*F. Than Put the Pineapple mixture over the chicken and Bake until the Chicken is done. I would personally use Bonless Skinless whole Chicken Breasts. Than I would serve it with a Rice Pilaf style dish with it.

either chicken or steak, and make sure that I have a salad to go with it just in case of a vegetarian. but I would fix something without a lot of spices, and something that is common but also good. Most people will enjoy a home cooked meal no matter what it is. remember appetizer's and a dessert also.

.Homemade vegetable (and/or vegetable beef) soup. You will not have to cook once he is there, which can unnerve some people who don't enjoy watching others work. If well seasoned with just regular seasoning, nothing exotic - I think everybody likes soup with a real fresh bread. You could have a wine as a stand-by if he asks for a drink or you may offer.
