Try a new pillow. You could also be a tense sleeper, shrugging your shoulders as you sleep.

Muscles can have knots (trigger points) that make them tight which in turn put pressure on nerves and other things.
Molasses - a couple of swigs or Bananas 1 or 2 - both contain magnesium and potassium for muscles.
Try working with the principles taught in The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
I use a chiropractor and massage therapist with it

I've had this.A friend of mine taught me how to sleep not on my left or right side, but on my chest: slightly orientated towards left or towards right for best comfort. it's important that the pillow you get is verry fluffy so that you can ajust it easily during your sleep for the perfect straight line of your neck vertebrae. I have two pillows by my side when I go to bed. one small pillow for when I fall asleep on my tummy and one big one, in case I wake up and feel like sleeping on my side. Although sleeping on my side usually gives me aches, i need it because I got used to it. I usually use only the small one. try it!

Try a different pillow, something flatter. Perhaps your mattress is not supporting you right? Check those things out first.

An early sign of arthritis. Change your pillows, or the number of them.

(1) Change the pillow
(2) check the bed - it may have lost its flatness and became curved
(3) lie on harder surface
