I'm a buyer and seller on eBay myself and yes there are alot of fakes on there but i'd say there are more genuine people .. I bought my xp from there and it was genuine. If you are totally unsure then mail the seller and ask if it has been registered/activated at all and check what other stuff they are selling. Usually if they are a seller of the products then 9/10 times it will be the genuine article .. There are a few other sites you could try below..

If you don't want to be ripped off as you say then don't buy the vista software from eBay for the software might not be the genuine article and how can you tell the difference, or the software has already been installed and the product activation key used, leaving you with a worthless copy of vista on your hands.
I would suggest buying Vista from a software store where if there is a problem with the software, then you can always take it back and claim a refund, don't be fooled remember if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. good luck.

I use ebay quite a lot, but I personally wouldn't take a chance with purchasing Vista on ebay. I'd definitely check out their feedback first if you do go ahead. It's always better to read the feedback comments & not just look at their percentage, as some people mark a comment as positive even though they're making really bad remarks.

For software on ebay I would stay away! There is alot of genuine software on there, but their is also alot of copies. If you do want to get vista from ebay. try using a power seller and look at their comments otherwise, your best bet is to get it from a store so you know its legitamate!
Hope that helps!

I don't recommend doing this - especially if it has been used.
If it hasn't be used or opened, then it should be fine as long as they send the item.
