"People" will for always hollor the "racist" card. It doesn't matter the profession. Law Enforcement is a community's most public entity.
..At least in regards to interaction with the community.
With that being said, they most certainly will be held to close scrutiny. Every negative action will be recorded, and played over, and over and over.
Being that it is the Cops, that have to deal with criminals (regardless of race) they are going to be subjected to the worst of the worst. Which means, they will deal with all sorts of intense emotions.
.. They will be judged. Which really, isn't a bad thing.
Quite frankly i don't see any more racists among Law Enforcement, as i do among Attorneys, or Farmers.
Hell i would wager there's a higher percentage of racists among recording artists. Especially those in the Rap and R&B genres. (No offense to those involved in that field, but the proof is in the lyrics)
I think that Law Enforcement, is simply held to a higher level, simply because it is their responsibility to keep the peace, so when one (as in 1) is busted saying something racist, the whole community, if not the Nation, is the first to hear about it.

The issue is not statistics--not profiling--not racism---it is the people who bring to the forefront, clever rhetoric instantly put in front of the public in the media---usually whipped into a frenzy and then it is twisted to look like they are right in what they said. Wasting the time of police officials who will usually slip on a word that inflames the situation and drives it further away from the truth. If a person or group thinks so low of the police---don't call them if you have a problem---if you want them to do a job, support them---unfortunately the media only sells sensationalism--they really don't care about the real issue--Just the ratings. Twisting a situation into a racial issue undermines the authority and the goals of our laws. But some keep the race card out there as often as they can--using any reason they can find---I believe it is an old adage and credo from the 60s--no matter how --no matter what---keep on keepin on---I could never be a cop---no matter what I did or no matter what I said--I would be wrong and the law wasn't supposed to be that way.Sorry state of affairs.

I can't BELIEVE what I have been reading. You know, I don't think you are a cop. I have been in law enforcement for over 9 years now, and I can tell you that the link that you posted absolutely proves NOTHING. Minorities do NO commit more crimes than whites. That site only shows that minorities are VICTIMIZED MORE THAN WHITES. Please, look at the stats and analyze them before you post such nonsense. The fact is that murder, or homicide, is INTRA-RACIAL, meaning that it happens within it's own racial groups. All that stat proved is that blacks are killed more than whites. What about all of the OTHER crimes that are committed in this country. What disturbs me the most are the comments made in reference to your question. The comments prove how clueless people are to prejudices and racism in this country. The mere fact that so many jumped on the band wagon to support a stat that does not support the poster's argument proves that it's easier to place blame on an entire group of people than to use your common sense.

Cops are not being racist. The problem lies in people not taking responsibility for their actions. A person commits a crime, goes to prison, and that's how it should be. If there are more minorities than others in prison, then that should tell you something. And if minority leaders were doing what was just and righteous, they would be addressing the crime issues in the minority community rather than try the race card to explain away someones responsibiity for a crime commited.
Sad to say, if you go into a minority community, you will notice that those poor folks live behind barred doors on their houses because they live in fear. Whether a criminal be black, white, or purple.... he/she is still commiting a crime, and where there are crimes, there are victims. It's the victims I feel sorry for, regardless of race.

First of all, I don't think you are a cop.
Secondly, no matter what the truth is, minorities will always claim racism if they are unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions, just like white people who don't take responsibility.
The race card is such an easy one to play, and so wrong when it's done.

Just in case you didn´t do so well in math at school; I´d like to respectfully suggest to you ,that you get you Statistics elsewhere. First of all you classify blacks as being a minority class. Well that´s your first mistake. Blacks aren´t a minority in the united states. Caucasians are. Secondly; You are not in the position to make such comment, and or as for that, you are being paid from your so-called Minority Black dollars. Thirdly sir or Mam, with all due respect; find yourself another profession, because you´ll eventually be uncovered ! Inform yourself correctly.

see, the thing is that the majority is the vast majority, so when they commit crimes its lost because of the large number their among! so the ratio will be low!
a large number of the minorities live in poverty and in neighborhoods that are filled with drug dealing and gangsters, and they are all created and caused by poverty, thus there will be a larger number of crimes recorded!

Because it is so convenient and easy to play the race card, and get sympathy and media coverage at the same time.
