I have a defect on one of my kidneys that causes me to be very susceptible to infections. The urologist I saw gave me a list of things to do to decrease my chances, and they work well for me. First of all, get rid of all the synthetic undies, and wear nothing but cotton, all cotton- not the nylon with the cotton liner in the crotch. Wash all your undies with either bleach or the oxy-clean type powder. Buy and use only white toilet paper, unbleached if you can find it, but at least white. No pretty colors of designs, because the dye can irritate tissues. When you wear pantyhose, you need to split the crotch, so heat and moisture do not stay in close contact with the body. Do not wear hose under pants, wear knee highs. Do not wear very tight fitting pants, or at least not very often. Do not wear any undies to bed at night, and go breezy at every opportunity. Do not use any powders, lotions or potions in the vicinity. Bubble baths are only a occasional indulgence, and bath oil soaks should not be more than once a week. Use plain soap, not the deoderant stuff- at least not there. Drink cranberry juice in plain or combo form at least one glass every day. When you go to the bathroom, be careful to wipe from front to back, not back to front. Use unscented baby wipes or the flushable wet wipes to clean afterwards, and pat dry. You should also drink enough liquids to be going to the bathroom at least every 2-3 hours, otherwise the urine can sit long enough in the bladder to cause trouble. Answer the call of nature when it comes, and never try to hold on "just a little longer" unless there really is no other choice. And watch the color and odor of the urine. It should be pale straw yellow with very little odor. If it gets darker, or smells strongly of ammonia, it is concentrated and can be a sign of pending trouble. If you notice this, immediately start drinking until your back teeth float. Cranberry juice cocktail works best, but water is next best. Lay off the coffee and tea at that point until things are back to normal.
None of this is perfect, but it did help me to break the vicious cycle you describe. I have not had an infection (knock on wood) in almost 2 years now- but I have also suffered like you are now. This is what has worked best for me. I hope it helps you as well.

I went through the exact same thing! I finally went to a urologist and they performed a cystoscopy. Turns out that my uterter was spasming(opening and closing) This caused everything like Bacteria! to back up. They opened it for me and I have not had one since. I am a true believer in alternative medicine and I tried everything under the sun. In this case, I needed this procedure to cure it. I was having problems over the course of one year winding up in the hospital because it spread to my kidneys.. No one in the hospital ever suggested a cystoscope exam. That figures! Good luck and keep an open mind to asking about this procedure.

More than 3 a year-you should see a urologist. Cranberry juice is good, but really most of us don't get enough plain water. I am immunosupressed and have had my share of UTIs. I tend to get the UTIs if get dehydrated or end up holding my bladder too long. Also you should pee before and after sex to wash away the bacteria.

you can check for uti by a routine urinalysis. usually, the ultrasound can only detect kidney stones, and not uti.
you can prevent and treat uti by drinking coconut juice always. cocounut makes you pee a lot, this constant action then takes the bacteria away. i once had uti, and coconut cured it. i know drink 1.5Liters of coconut juice every saturday to prevent it.
if you are a female, you will always be prone to uti, simply because of your short urethra, one way to prevent uti is to change underwear regularly to prevent bacterial buildup. also, avoid sitting in hot/heated chairs. hot climate and enviroments makes the bacteria wild and increases their production.
don't ever hold your pee. regularly pee to remove the bacteria.
you can always choose to use anti-bacterials, however, be warned that you have to take this for 7 days, or whatever the doctor tells you. if the doctor tells you to take the meds for a week, then a week it should be. if by the 3rd day you feel better, don't stop the regimen as this is likely to bring back the bacteria, only this time, they are more resistant to the medicine. you probably just felt better because of the decrease in bacteria, not because the bacteria is gone.

My brother once lived in a house that replaced into 'haunted', or inspite of you opt for to call it. there replaced right into a terrible feeling about the position, and a negative stench of rotting fleash that 'moved' around the homestead. in case you stepped into it, you had to throw-up and cry. He 'smugged' the homestead quite a few situations to attempt to sparkling out the gap, and eliminate any unfavorable means. This one replaced right into a nasty one, and nevertheless- maximum likey by no potential left. It appeared to artwork for the completed homestead, yet one room. The laundry room became this fairly scary and uncomfortable room- so that you prevented it- continually! you would possibly want to do this technique, it worked adequate for him- lengthy adequate at the same time as he lived there. with the exception of the laundry room. i imagine that you take advantage of a range of sweet grass, something that you would possibly want to get at a organic keep. Like an indian grass. you would possibly want to likely seem it up on-line.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
