One of my kids is allergic to brewers' yeast (we found this out through testing for various allergies). In Australia, this is a small tragedy, as Vegemite is made from brewers' yeast!

Does anyone know if this is an allergy he will grow out of? Will he be able to have a beer when he grows up?

I think there's certainly some truth in what you're saying. It seems like sex and drugs are a bigger part of teenager's lives today than ever before. I'm 24 and I'm amazed at what today's average 15 year old goes through. Then again, I don't think it's that far removed from what my generation, or my parents' generation, or even my grandparents' generation went through. I think the real issue is media overexposure. In the 90s (when I grew up), there was obviously a huge amount of sex and violence and drug use and all of that in the media. But I think today's obsession with reality TV sort of warped what kids think is normal. Every aspect of life is played out in the open. There are dozens of reality shows on, plus every single teenager either uses yahoo answers, has a myspace, or has a facebook account in which to air all the details of their personal life. Teenagers have been having sex, doing drugs, and generally acting stupid forever. I mean forever as in since the dawn of time. But I think we hear a lot more of it now than ever- and we hear a lot of it straight from the teenagers, because modern culture is, at least right now, all about overexposure.

Alot of kids grow out of allergies, just depends on the severity of it, and his immune system strength, and all of that fun stuff.
