I know how you feel. I don't drive and have a three yr old and a 2 month old. We're in the house and things get so mundane. But i normally pack up some food, wrap them up warm and take them to the park or to feed the ducks. My boy loves just having a kick around with a ball and simple things like jumping in puddles!! We all love to go swimming too but only my 3 yr old can go in as my baby is too young. We just walk sometimes and he points out all the things he can see from flowers to animals. Kids have a wonderful imagination, you've just gotta let them explore it and have fun. Toddler groups help as you get to meet loads of new people and your kids do too. Hope I've helped a little so go have fun!!

Just go for a walk. Meet a friend for coffee. Go for a busride. Go to a park. Visit somebody. Attend a playgroup. Head to an indoor pool. There are many many things to do when you are motivated enough. I've never stayed home with my kids, we are out walking every day (i don't drive either). We live in a country town that gets really cold & snows. There really is no excuse if you genuinely want to get out of the house - just do it! Even 1 hour a day can make all the difference to boredom. I have suffered post natal depression previously, made worse be staying at home so nothing keeps me in anymore. Also you meet so many more people when you are out & about.

So you bundle up and go for a short walk. Let the 1 1/2 yo play in the snow a bit. Take the bus to a museum. Have a picnic indoors. Watch a movie together with fruit snacks. Visit friends. A little one doesn't need to be outside for long to have fun. Remember it might be boring to you but it's all new to a little one. They thrive on routine. I'm a mom to 3 on a limited budget.

At this age everything can be a wonderful, learning adventure!
Museums, parks, malls, toy stores (especially those that have Thomas the Tank Engine displays for the kids to play with), bookstores that have reading/play area set up for kids, McDonalds. Does your local zoo have buildings where you can look at animals without having to be outside? Are there other toddlers in the area you could set up playdates with?
Pick a shape or color, bundle up and go outside and find all of the circles (or whatever) that you can, then bring what you can inside and make something out of it. Or find all of the textures you can, then come in and draw a picture on a piece of paper and glue sticks and leaves and dirt and grass to it to complete the picture.
Go to the mall and try to find each letter of the alphabet. Go to a store with a dressing room full of mirrors and let him look at himself. Make faces with him. Talk about the faces. (Happy. Sad. etc.)
Enjoy this age... and every age! Kids grow so fast!

If you live in the country why not go and see the farm animals.
Have a nice walk in the country side or visit a nice park.. Perhaps take a sandwich and blanket and have a play with a ball.
None of the above costs money - its free, the child will love the fresh air, If its chilly just put a extra jumper on the child..

Like the others have said, walks outside are fab for toddlers! Make it into an adventure, a treasure hunt. Look for funny shaped leaves, or ladybirds, or feathers, or rabbits. In fact, read him some of the Little Grey Rabbit stories, and then take him outside and see if you can imagine together where the story might have taken place.

Frustrating, but as the weather is getting better, go for walks in the countryside, just wrap up well.
Are you local to a beach?
On a bus route, go for an adventure and see where the bus takes you.....
Take a packed lunch to keep expense down.
Enjoy

no park nearby? It is difficult I know. How about the library? Do they have a story time?
Start your own weekend group - maybe other mums can come and bring food and drink and toys and books you can all share, go to a different house each week? ask a few people at the play group?

parks are always good fun, to be honest i kinda dread the though of going out in the cold but its always worth it when we get there, the cold doesnt last due to all the running about, get involved, go on the see-saw, its great fun. other things like swimming and soft play areas shouldn't be too expensive as usually soft play areas you only need to pay for the kids playing and swimming you don't pay for babies, you would only need your own bus fare too x
