Fundamentalism requires that you have a cut-and-dried answer for everything. To a fundamentalist (doesn't matter if it's a fundie Xtian, Moslem, Jew) there is no middle ground. Things are either black, or white. There is no room for interpretation, there is no room for uncertainty. God has 1 answer, and you can find it in the Holy Book.
It's a sad, narrow life.

I've often wondered the same thing. My theory is that that's the only answer they have.
Those are the kind of people that give all Christians a bad name.
The other thing that cracks me up is when I ask a question about Christians and they tell me I need to get saved. The reason that's so funny is because I myself am a Christian.
Ignore those type of answers. If I see a good question, I'll answer it without using Scripture, unless Scripture is required.

I hear the read your bible.. or God is just testing your faith all the time. I can't conform to a specific religion, because like you I find good in all and bad in all uniform religions. To me the goal of any religion is to try to explain the unexplainable. To give people hope and the faith to believe that there is something more than this life. That is why we strive to become the best person we can possibly be.. so if there is a possibility of a happy afterlife that we did everything we could to be a part of it.

"Religion" is simply what it says, "Religion". This is a man-made ritual. A Way for people to "Pactice their Rules". A way for people to express what they say they "Beleive".
A "Relationship" with God and Jesus Christ (One in the same) is a whole differant story. For Example; In the Catholic religion, there is a cross with Jesus still on it, in every Church. A reminder that Jesus Christ died for us. In the Baptist church the cross is empty, a reminder that Jesus did die for us, but that he is risen from the dead.
Theological studies are here to equate the verbige used in the times of Jesus Christ, to how we understand Verbige today.
"Faith" on the other hand means "Beleiving" something that is not seen, but you Beleive anyways. As in "Taking the Word of God by Faith".
Here is where your statement falls apart. You stated that you "Lean" towards something, but you fail to admit that you are willing to "Commit" to it, therefore, there is NO Faith in what you lean to.
To be honest with you, Life, Faith are Black and white, for God, there is NO shades of gray. Simply put, shades of Gray means your a fence-sitter and God would rather that you take a "Stand" one way or the other. Youy either "Beleive" what the word of God says, or you don't. It has always been your choice. But as the Bible says, "The path to Heaven is narrow and few will walk it, the road to Hell is wide and many will walk it". I see nothing there that implies you can slip down the middle and squeck into Heaven.

because many times it is the most accurate and clear way to communicate the answer as well as carrying authority. You see, our opinions are just opinions. The Bible, however is at youngest 2000 yrs old and has proven a test of time, even if you don't believe it's the Word of God.
Which I do...

Why in basic terms the Bible? study the Holy Qur'an, the Adi Granth, the Vedas, the Bhagavad Gita, the Devi Mahatmaya, the Dhammapada, the Pali Canon, the writings of the Bab and Bahaullah. All scriptures have reality to instruct. As God mentioned to St. Augustine - Tolle Lege - Take and study.

"Read your bible" is much simpler than all that tedious business of having to take the time to understand the question, think about an aswer, and then type it in comprehensible form.
