If the Earth was 5 billion years old to them, they could rationalize it by saying that in the scheme of things, 4000 years is like 4 minutes to God.

Too bad that creationism keeps getting in the way of their theology.

And their brains.

Only God know but WE ALL wonder. I was always told becuase God thinks on an eternal time frame and a thoudand years is like a day to him, as he always was and is. I guess if there was no end to time for you then 4000 thousand years would be a drop in the bucket. The other theory of course is that God wanted to allow all poeple to hear his word and have a chance at redemption. This is what I was told.

Because it was his will to do so.
I believe it had something to do with the cultural evolution of men.
Telling the Israelites to love the cannanites, sidonites and jebusites would only end up getting the Israelis killed. By the time Jesus came, Rome was protecting Judea. People were still very bad but they were more open to hearing a message of forgiveness and love. Rome was also incredibly more powerful than any of the old groups the Israelites fought so it would only be right for them to learn to live with they're neighbors peacefully and to be forgiving and love one another because they were not militarily going to defeat the Romans.

Why he waits now............I can not tell the future but I can say it is his will to do so.

what do you mean by "then even longer to come again. It hasnt even been 2000 years since he died. If it was 4000 the first time then....well...you know.

anyway, God isnt bound by time like we are. 4000 years? whats that to someone who is eternal?

(to Aaron)
God has been here Forever. before the earth was here, that does not "get in the way of our theology"

God is beyond space and time. The earth is as old as it is.

The Bible says a day to God is a thousand years to us, so it looks like God is slow But it had only been 4 days to him.

i've got confidence God sent Jesus whilst the time become precisely suitable! As you rightly element out, many stuff had to ensue first so as that mankind understood their failings and shortcomings. you could view Him as a tyrant, yet I view Him as a loving, sovereign God, the author of all, who will choose all and sundry.

because the whole christianity thing is a sh!t. christianity claims to be the new and revised form of judaism after god changed his mind about how judaism should be.
However, judaism had a clear law that any prophet who claims to have been told by god to change even one law of the Torah (old testament) is a liar. so how could christianity possibly be truthful if it nullified all the old testament's laws?
