I have not tried them personally, though many of my friends have smoked salvia divinorum with varied results. Some have claimed to "trip" really hard, although for a shorter period than say mushrooms, and others said they got nothing. I have seen a friend of mine (huge pothead) trip balls from a few hits of the stuff, I know it has to be more than a placebo effect. I beleive it depends on the type/quality you get. Salvia is a huge family of plants. They sell other types of salvia (sage is a type of salvia) than salvia divinorum, which may account for the difference.

And Kratom I have heard of, though I don't personally know anyone who has tried it

I'm not familiar with kratom, but salvia is just another name for sage, as in "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme."
