Immigration records show the following:

Bascues have come to the United States from
* France (7)
* Canada (4)
* Italy (3)
* Portugal (2)
* Chile (1)

In addition, there are several lines tracing back to colonial America where the originator of the name was English.

(6) Bascues fought in the Civil War

Elis Bascue shows up on the 1820 census for Loudon VA and he was born in the US
George Bascue shows up on the 1860 census for Monroe NY and lists his place of birth as France.
Amelia Bascue is on the 1871 English census in London and was born in England.
(8) Bascues are on the 1911 Canadian census and (4) of them were born in Austria, one in Hungary and (3) in Canada.

The bottom line is that this is a very generic name throughout Europe and you won't know your ethnicity until you do the research and find out where your own line came from and how they got to be where they are today.

Hey Kelly,

There are entries in the LDS Family Search site all over the USA for BASCUE, one from Mexico, and 2 from Brazil. I do not see any from Spain. Also, there were no entries in SWYRICH.com, so included below are some places you can look to try to find the origin.
