where scientists in Greenland analyse an ice core that is 650,000 years old. Do you think they are perpetrating a great hoax or that their years of study in the field has been a horrible waste of time?
If you met one of these fellows face to face, what would you say to him or her?

Ask Mr. Religion: I said ICE man. The age is determined by layering not radiocarbon dating. May I recommend Earth Science 101?

These scientists and myself know full well that the dating techniques used are completely inaccurate beyond about 5,000 years. After that the estimates are strictly probabilistic assumptions. Those that have spent years of study their scientific fields know this already.
Yes, I know this is ice cores and radiometric dating is not universally used, nevertheless, it is used. But, for sake of completeness, see the source below and note the objectivity of the discussion. The conclusion is that one's presuppositions can lead to different answers.

See, I come to R&S, I actually have an effective time, furnish my solutions, experience highly swell - then you quite bypass and ask a question that I even don't understand what it means. LOL youthful Earth Creationists - who're they? the single's who imagine Earth is 2007 yrs previous (someone easily suggested they believed this an afternoon or so in the past, NO LIE). i imagine the earth is 4.5 billion years previous - that is previous, actual? keep up those braintwisting questions - that is impressive to take a pause from the Cat antics and fairly attempt to imagine. oh dear not this again.
No one knows how old the Earth really is . The Young Earth Creationists are just following the Jewish calender which is dated from the approximate time of ADAM and Eves expulsion from the GARDEN of EDEN and the forming of the tribe of Abraham.
There is a lot of Earth history in the bible before then.

If you have faith, you do not read science or news. This would lead to questioning and heresy.
You don't even need to read the Bible. Just a few sentences here and there that provide answers for everything.
God did it. God moves in mysterious ways. I know it's the truth because I feel it in my heart.
Those that waste time and energy on PhD's, too bad for them!

I would think that it is a waste of not only time but money and brain power. I have met these people face to face. There is nothing you can say to them they are set in their ways. They have to discover on their own.

You do understand what "extrapolation beyond the known data" means right, Brendan?
It's a GUESS, a scientific guess, yes, but a guess nonetheless.
