During the tattoo, there will be constant pain. Kind of like someone pressing their fingernail into you for as long as the tattoo lasts. For the next few days, the tattooed area will be sore, and sensitive to the touch. After that, it will ache occasionally. There is a lot of maintenance involved with a tattoo, especially in the first two weeks afterward. Remember that a tattoo is forever, and should be something you'd be proud to show your grandchildren.

In my experiences with tattoos, they sometimes hurt while getting it done (sometimes it's just very relaxing). When it's finished, it's usually pretty numb. After cleaning up the first time, keeping it moisturized helps ALOT. It's not generally 'painful' at that point...just ITCHY! Again, keeping it moisturized helps with that as well!
Of course, it depends on tattoo location too. My waistband hurt when I tried to sleep cuz there was no sleeping position that didn't rub it (it goes ALL the way around). My backpiece hurt when I had to wear a bra (because of work) and the bra strap sat right on the top edge of the new ink. Certain clothing fabrics can irritate it more than others (stick to soft 100% cotton if you can!).

Mine usually start to go numb after awhile of sitting there, but that depends how big it is. After that you wait about an hour then wash it and it feels pretty good. Just a little warning tattoos are really addicting i started with 1 and now have 10.

Depends on where you got the tattoo, your tolerance to pain.
Most of my tattoos hurt for about half a day, but the one on my calf going up to my thigh hurt for two days. It hurt to bend my leg and walk, it really sucked. I recently got a tattoo on my foot and that hurt for 4-5 days. I was barefoot in Michigan winter for a week (stupid me). Everyone is different though and if the pain gets to be bad, take some Mortin, you'll be fine.

it only hurts when the artist has the needle on you...then it stops. After the tattoo is done, it just feels like a little scrape...didn't bother me to much though. The pain in the butt thing was the itching and then you can't scratch it once it starts healing up...

It feels like you've just slighly burned yourself like you would feel if you got burned under hot water for about 2 hours then you don't really notice it but I only had a little one so I'd say if it's big you'll probably be feeling that slight burn sensation for at least a day :)

its not a excruciating pain it just sort of stings afterwards for a few hours, especially after you take off the gauze they put on. The air is relieving hitting it but it does kinda sting

It hurts like an abrasion. More the first day when it is messed with and after that you wish that itching was pain instead!! HAHAHA!
