I don't know, really. I met and became intimate with my best friend ten years ago. A couple years later we got married for some really pragmatic reasons (health insurance). We're still together and happy, so I guess I must have come to that conclusion somewhere in there.

You know because there is a definite LACK of argument (because you agree about most things), drama (no lack of trust because you all know how each other feels due to easy and open communication), tears (few bad times due to neither wants to leave...ever), feelings of walking on egg shells (no fear about having to hide things because you are each others best friend)......AND lots of good to mind-blowing sex (because chemistry/lust makes the whole deal non-platonic).

If you have all of the above in one partner...it must be because you have found your soulmate. But note....you can only sense it and not KNOW it for quite a few years....that is why you would marry, stay together and know for certain the day they die and you STILL feel all of the above.

So if you date and argue quite a bit or have probs in the sex department...you can discount them being your soulmate from the get-go.

Your soulmate is that person which your soul believes it has found it's perfect counterpart. That which completes you.

You snore in unison.

You finish each others sentences.

When you're down, the other always has enough energy and thoughtfulness to get you up again.

You spend your entire lives working at it before you truly recognize that you are soul mates...because you grow together and become one.

you assume that souls exist.
assume that they don't. If that were the case, there would be no soulmates, therefore no mates.
nobody would fall in love.
but people are in love, despite not having souls.
therefore souls don't exist.

I do not believe in soul mates. I believe there are many people out there who you could marry and life a happy life filled with love.

The trick is finding one and staying faithful.

Tell him it turns you off or that he will have to marry you if he continues to talk when you guys have sex. That should work. Good luck.
