I don't encounter many atheists in day-to-day life.
But the attitudes and opinions represented on Y!A seem consistent with the application of atheism throughout history.

Actually, I've found your questions rude & insulting and I'm not an Athesist. You like to stir up trouble. You have no desire to do anything but preach your intolerant views in here. There are annoying people from both sides, Atheists & Christians. Maybe it's more of a battle between intelligent people and complete morons who need to feel superior to people who they never see or really know.
All I can say is, you shouldn't throw any rocks deary, you live in a big old glass house. The only people that get mocked on here are those extremists who think it's their job to condemn everyone. You're not God or Jesus. You don't have a hotline to either one. You're just a mortal like the rest of us. Get over yourself.

Look who's talking. You Miss Leanne are the worst. I have read your answers and questions, and you have judged people, called people names, contradicted yourself many times, and you are the biggest hypocrite on this site. You are the one that should feel shameful. You get into a religious discussion with people on this site and when they start quoted scriptures to show that you are clueless, you get mad and post a rude ugly question about how crazy that person is. You are a very mean spirited person. I will pray for you.

If you and the rest of them are so appalled and insulted, then why are you still here? Shouldn't you be complaining to the people who manage Y!A?
And to answer your question, the internet is the only way, for millions of people to speak their minds. For one, its free. And two, most of us don't encounter the kind of religious intolerance in person, as we do on this site. Most of us see something on tv or on the internet that bothers us, and we have to vent. Many people are blunt and rude about it, others sugar coat everything. I'm one of the people who prefers to be blunt. The rest come here to learn about other religions or have healthy religious debates.
And in response to, "Is this because they feel more comftable behind a computer than acting like that to someone face to face?", aren't you on a computer right now too, venting your frustrations?

There is also a lot of bashing on here by so-called "Christians" on here, my friend. Most of the Atheists I've come across on this site have been very interesting and thought provoking people.
Blessed Be

1. Knock it off. You're baiting and trolling by calling everyone evil and you know it. For that, I'm reporting you.
2. Atheists are getting sick to death of the religious (Christians are the worst) thinking they have the right to tell everyone else how to live their lives. Banning gay marriage, banning abortion, banning stem cell research... any of that sound familiar to you? If not, how about the knocking on doors things, shoving pamphlets about your religion in peoples faces... any of that sound familiar?
You may think protesting that behavior is rude and insulting, but others will beg to differ. I call trying to interfere in other peoples lives using your religion to be rude and insulting.
Atheists DO NOT CARE what your religion is so long as you don't bug anyone else about it.
Don't believe me? Read some questions by Buddhists (who get told they're evil and to find god) or Wiccans (who also get told they're evil and to find god) on here sometime. YOU don't think you're being rude because "its my religion and I worded it politely" but its rude to say that stuff to people.
In customer service "Have a nice day" can be said many different ways. Some of them very polite and warm, and others nasty and obviously meaning to insult and cause trouble.
If you come into someone elses thread to tell them they're evil, no matter how nicely you put it, do you honestly think that, on the internet, that can EVER come across in a nice way?
On the internet, there is no emotion, there is no body language, its only your words that you type that speak. And on the internet, acting like most of the Christians that post on this site comes across as condescending, aggravating, insulting and RUDE.
So you'll have to forgive if people become defensive. After all, forgiveness and love is what your religion is all about, isn't it?

Its easy to sit at home behind a machine and call other names and feel powerful about it.
its a sick trip they enjoy. I feel sorry for them....cause if this is their life and their humor and enjoyment....I hate to see the rest of their life, I really would, it has to be such torment.
I have been here for awhile and it gets worse by the day. YouTube is getting the same way. I figured I would just let the fools have their cheesy site and I would just instead make a blog of my own. Get much more respect that way and I can keep the fools out.

The only reason you might see an "insult" from an atheist is because you have uttered one yourself.
Atheists don't attack, we respond to attacks by others. If you can't deal with that, you're a hypocrite.
And by the way, blasphemy is a victimless crime. It's very telling that _you_claim to be offended but your mythical "god", with the supposed power to create a universe in 144 hours, can't handle the words of one man.

Leeane, first you must understand that christians shouldn't be insulted by this or anything that they do. The Lord Jesus, says to be meek. If in ten years, this helps one person to Jesus, then it is worth it, . second you must see that it is not your place to judge them. it is Gods. But yes every atheist I have ever known, tries to be like a peacock and show the world that they are right, even when they know something is wrong with their choice in their heart.

This site is very insulting. I think that the hate toward Christians brings out the worst in some of us Cristians. I have never called anyone dumb, moronic, a retard, dilutional,, but I have been called it many times by the unbelievers. I might insult their beliefs, because I find the denial of Jesus to be insulting, but never the person.
