The typicaly serving size is pretty small. Most bakeres calculate a serving size as 1"x2". A few other places calculate a serving size as 2"x2". I have been to receptions were the actual wedding size is served and it's not much. Other receptions I have attended served twice the serving size, which is more typically the size an average person would serve. While I don't recommend order service for twice as many guests, I would order a cake to serve a little bit more than your count if you wanted to serve a larger slice. We ordered cake to feed an additional 15 people based on our guest list (not RSVP list). In the end, there was not a slice left, but everyone was able to get a nice resonable slice of cake. Depending on the baker, flavors, and fillings, a good price per serving will start at $3-5.

It totally depends on the cake. The flavor and decoration make a BIG difference. It also depends on how expensive things in general are where you live. So I don't know the average. For reference, I live in a medium-sized city and my wedding cake is going to be a two-tier cake with an additional sheet cake. It doesn't have any deocration. It won't even have smooth sides (it's called a "stucco" finish and it makes the cake cheaper because it's a lot less work than the smooth sides look). We cut costs on the decoration as much as possible in order to be able to afford to use this particular baker because their cakes are DELICIOUS. Anyway, so our cake is costing us about $350 and it will feed about 120 people.

Depends on the cake. My location charges $3-5 depending on how complex the cake is. Of course I'm just getting a pretty basic looking square cake & they claim it's a $4.50 a slice cake, which I honestly feel is too much. I think about $3 a slice is reasonable.

We paid $1.25 per serving. The cake was served by people we chose, not the one who made the cake. THat saves you money right there.

Usually 2.00-5.00 slice, depending on the cake. A good price is below 3.50 per slice.

i am getting married this november, and i don't get the wedding cake, no one actually likes the stuff anyway.
we are having cupcakes made, and each one individually decorated with a deep red sugar rose and ivory icing. we are having an assortment made of fruit, chocolate and plain. they are only going to be about 75 pence (GBP).
but if you are going to have a formal cake i'd say about $1.50 - $3.00 is acceptable.

Three inches long. That's enough.
