I've had problems with cheap cards, and now I only go with brand names I trust. I've even started buying the 'pro' versions so I have the highest speed amd the fewest problems.

great deals on ebay. i got a 1 gb memory card (retail $50) for $25 and no tax.. and it was new. it arrived 3 days later
