I don’t think that is true. There is no reason why a man as rational as Dawkins would see anything noble in taking a vow of poverty for poverty’s sake. Now the latter part of your statement, about him giving away his books for free, might be true. Who knows? Can you cite the source where you got this information from.

Either way, Dawkins in his decades of being an academic, has brought a greater understanding of evolutionary biology to the lay masses than any other biologist that I can think of. Furthermore, he subsumes his numerous treatises on Darwin’s ground breaking theory in a social framework, showing how it would explain things that go beyond the realm of biology. Dawkins is the bulwark against the ever increasing tide of irrationality that is pervading our world, most notably in the forms of creationism and intelligent design.

I am grateful for his devotion to the defense of science and reason against groundless dogma. Whether he achieves this while gaining a profit is immaterial. He has, profit or not, done a great service for mankind.

He has to give them away for free..they aren't worth paying for ...(and I'm an atheist!!)....

If only he could have come up with some original material..it just seems that it's the same thing over and over again..just re-arranged a little so it looks new...

Personally, I don't think that God is the 'deluded' one...

If it means educating the deluded masses in america, who prefer hatred to peace, then it would be a wonderful thing.
