Imagine what's the usefulness of a spirit without its counterpart? Think of anything, anything at all which has no opposite in character?
Nature is about dualism. Nothing moves, no vibration, no observer, no creator, in the absence of opposite partner.

God created people for His own amusement.
Watching people, as a whole, must amuse Him greatly, because there is nothing He couldn't do to relieve us of our suffering. He does it to create chaos and destruction, and watch how we, as a people, struggle to find the answers to solving our problems.
I think God is cruel and for such a "loving, caring" God, he has a twisted way of showing it...
God's laughing at us, right now...he's cackling away, up there, in the Heavens, pointing his finger, rolling over with hard laughter, saying, "Those people I created sure know how to make me laugh! They're so hilarious! The universe would be so bland and boring without them! Look at them destroy themselves, and all that I created for them! HAAAAaaaaaaaaah! Well...I'll have to keep that in mind after they've killed themselves off, and I got to create a whole new set of people!....I need to make the next batch look more like clowns, though! This is funny stuff!!"

God decided to create people for the following reason
So that his noble work of reproduction is continued by people
The way he loves all children equally ,he wants us to love all the people without thinking about cast , creed , color or religion.
The way he brings sun in the morning and moon at night , he want us to shine like a sun for others and be cool and give love like a moon light at night to our loved ones.
The way he forgives and forgets all our sin and mistakes , he wants us to do the same to all the people around us without any grudge or ill feelings.
Last but not the least , The way he loves us and look after us he want us to pray and remember him even in your happier days when we don't have any grief or trouble.

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.
Peace and every blessing!

You are not on Earth by accident. There is a purpose for your mortal existence. You are here to receive a physical body, gain experience, and develop divine attributes—like justice, mercy, and love.
God did not send you here without a plan. His plan is designed to bring you, and all His children, greater peace in this life—no matter what its trials—and eternal joy in the life to come. It is a plan of eternal salvation and happiness.
To partake of His plan, Heavenly Father invites you to:
Come to know and love Him and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Learn to love others as He loves them.
Learn to choose right over wrong.
Commit yourself to Him through ordinances such as baptism.
You didn’t suddenly spring into existence the moment you were born.
You were happy in Heavenly Father’s presence, but He knew that you needed more in order to progress. You did not have a physical body like you do now, and you needed a chance to gain experience on your own—away from His presence, but with the ability to communicate with Him and receive help. So He sent you to Earth, hoping that you would return to Him and receive everything He has to offer you.
Before you were born, you lived with your Heavenly Father as one of His beloved spirit children. You knew and loved Him, and He knew and loved you.
Although you have forgotten your life before you were born, your Heavenly Father has not. He knows you and loves you. He wants you to come to know and love Him, too.

Wow. Brilliant question. I think so....entertainment, expression of self worth as we should have these things for ourselves too because I do believe that God created us in his own image.......to a certain degree.

The reason for your and my presence is to worship God and to get a foretaste of the delights of paradise so as to strive to reach it.
And I have not created Jinn and man except to worship Me”;
