For the glass, it's both, for it can't be half full if not half empty. As for the 8 ball, I have no clue.

my rule to the glass question is how did it get to be half full or empty was the liquid poured into the glass cause then it would be half full if a full glass was poured out half way then its half empty and to the 8 ball question....... if you actually use one to make everyday desicions then uh.... i dare you to ask it if you should jump off a cliff?

either way, i'll take the bottom half of the glass as long as i get to drink first... as far as the 8 ball goes, never heard of a position for better luck.. i am sure i will have to try that now..

For a pessimist it is half empty, for an optimist it is half filled. it depends on the way you look at it.
