I know I should drink water, and that it is healthy to do so, but I never drink it. In all actuality, I hate water. I hate the taste, and it mostly makes me feel really sick after I drink it oddly enough, sometimes even prolonged for a few hours. I just don't like it. Besides from that, I consider myself a healthy person. I work out 2-3 times a week, I sweat normally, I tend to avoid fast foods, and other unhealthy food or drinks. I consider myself in fair shape, with a fairly good diet. I do drink a lot of juices, mainly being apple because I love it.
But as much as I try to get used to water I hate it. I dislike the taste and it makes me feel sick. Are there other ways I can stay hydrated without drinking water? Any explanation on why I feel sick after I drink water? Or perhaps why I've had no problems with never drinking water?
I probably have a bottle of water, about once ever 2 months, give or take.
Thanks

I feel the same way about water. I dont know what it is, or why, but you dont need to consume pure water to continue existing. Everyday foods contain water, and all drinks contain and in fact consist mostly of water. Water is good for you because it purifies the body and digestive system, but other than that you can continue to live normally as long as you stay hydrated with something. Try drinking crystal light or something in your water. I sometimes mix it with lemon juice if I feel like drinking water for whatever reason.

It could be the taste of your water. I got tired of the taste of tap water so I bought a water filter and I have been using it for over 4 years. That water I like, and it is a whole lot cheaper than buying bottled water.
Special K and some other company do offer flavored water, but the water is only as good as its source. I saw on 20/20, this week, that Aquafenia gets some of its water from the Detroit River, not exactly that cool mountain spring you thing of.
The juice that you do drink has a lot of water in it, since a lot of water is found in those juices naturally. It doesn't matter where you get your water from, only that you get enough of it, and you are getting some.
I suggest that you get a water filter and then add some flavoring like apple juice, or some other fruit juice. Then add a bit to the water bottle you take to the gym. If you use pure water then you won't get that taste you hate and any remaining bad taste would be covered up by fruit juice you add to the water bottle.
I don't know why you would feel sick after drinking water, unless it was water like the Mississippi River. Mark Twain said if you let it stand in the sun for a day you would end up with half a glass of mud. There is one disease that makes humans strongly dislike water, it is called hydrophobia, and more popularly know as rabies. I am assuming that you aren't rabid so I don't know why the water in your area makes you feel sick. It could be that you are allergic to something in it or hate the strong smell of chlorine that tap water has. So I would get a water filter, but remember that fluorine added to tap water would be removed by the water filter so you should brush your teeth twice a day, but that isn't too much to ask for.

There are huge varieties of flavored water and soda waters that have carbonation. Have you tried any of these? Water is so good for you, you really should consider trying to flavor it a little, maybe add a little bit of apple juice to it will help it go down easier. If you are only drinking bottled water try switching brands you normally buy, I have noticed some brands taste alot better to me than others. Plus alot of bottled water is from a tap somewhere that sounds like it should have refreshing water. Stay away from anything advertised as natural spring water since they only have to put it through bare minimum filtration. Reverse Osmosis water is the best tasting to me since it has had all impurities removed from it.
You are staying hydrated drinking juice but not nearly as much as if you had the same amount of water. Caffeine dehydrates you so you should stay away from coffee or soda or teas that contain caffeine since if doesn't count towards your daily hydration.
Perhaps you are drinking too much water at once. I know if I drink alot I get water-gut. Usually makes me feel yucky for about an hour or until I eat some bread or something like that.
Good luck with your water and health.

I know everybody says that you're supposed to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day - some sources oppose that. Your body knows when it's dehydrated - by making you thirsty. So if you don't like water and ever if it makes you sick - don't sweat it and don't try to force yourself. You still get the needed hydration from other sources - juice is as fine (except it adds sugars to your daily intake :) Fruits and veggies also have water in them, so do soups, etc. so if you don't feel a need for drinking water - your body probably meets the daily requirement.
Teas are good alternative too without extra calories, sugars, fats, carbs.
Keep up healthy lifestyle and don't worry!
Good luck

I hope you know that if you don't drink water and only drink sweetened drinks you can damage your kidneys. You don't want to do that. You can drink flavored water and it tastes really good. It also doesn't have as much calories. Also you can make your own green tea at home and not have to put a lot of sugar. That way you don't feel sick with just water and hopefully you don't get sick from your kidneys. At least try in drinking a glass or two in a day and that way your keeping yourself healthy. You probly haven't had any problems yet, but later in the years you might even regret that you never even tried having a glass of water a day.

I'm totally in the same boat as you and one day I even woke up in terrible pain and actually had to have 1/2 my colon removed!!! Yeah, so now I have only half a colon yet I still have problems with constipation! *Things that typically work for me: - Flaxseeds & Flaxseed Oil - Fish Oil & Olive Oil - Peppermint Tea - Chamomile Tea - Pyllisum Husks - Magnesium Oxide - Vitamin C - ToFu - Coffee (*this doesn't work for me, but a lot of people say coffee gives them the shi*s)... I hope you feel better because I know how terrible it feels!!!!

You get water from everywhere. The composition in body has large amount of water. Body gets water from the environment, from the food that you eat, may be some beer that you have. You just cannot avoid water anyway.

well you do get a certain amount of water from food and juices. I guess as long as you seem healthy. I do think if you lived in a dry arid place you would have some kind of problem.
