WMP 11 works fine and looks good too. But when I try the "Find in library" option on the items in the playlist, it does one of the following two things:

1. It doesn't find the required file. But I guess it wouldn't find what I don't have in the library. Then sometimes it doesn't even find files which I do have in the library.

2. It generates an error message saying WMP 11 has encountered a problem and needs to close. It is very annoying.

Help......anyone?

Thanks in advance.

When WMP looks for files it searches your ENITRE hard drive(s) and then once it finds a file it adds it. I have sound effects from all of my games that WMP can support. You might have the setting in WMP set to not look in certain folders for files. If you look under the tools---->Library-----> Click on mointer folders make sure that the size of the file your looking for is larger than the default 100kb for audio and 400kb for video. Other than that try updating WMP; their development team is usually pretty good at fixing most of the bugs it has.

WMP in and of itself is an error. It's a resource hog and won't play videos unless they are perfect. It's also prone to errors. It's from M$ so what do you expect?
The easiest thing to do is dump it for the VLC Media Player (formerly VideoLAN). It's freeware, opensource, uses a tenth of the resources of WMP and will play vids that'll choke Window$ bloat ware. It even has it's own codecs and can play streaming media from the net. A vast improvement.
As a rule, if VLC can't play it, it can't be played!
