Yes it is. One 4 ounce glass per day for women. Two 4 ounce glasses per day for men. Cabernet Sauvignon is suppose to be the best. A good rule to follow is the dryer, the better. Scientists believe the antioxidants, called flavonoids, reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in three ways:

by reducing production of low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (also know as the "bad" cholesterol)
by boosting high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the good cholesterol)
by reducing blood clotting. Furthermore, consuming a glass of wine along with a meal may favorably influence your lipid profiles following that meal

Some studies, which began over 15 years ago were meant to look at the effect drinking 1 or 2 glasses of red wine daily had on lessening the incidence of heart attacks. The
French and Italians have a lower incidence of heart attacks despite the fact that their diets are high in fats and that they drink red wine regularly. Certain chemicals in red wine seem to help. HOWEVER--new studies are checking to see if it may instead be the red skins of the grapes that are the beneficial components.. If you are under age, Eat red grapes!!

yes, red wine is good for the heart. but only about 1 glass is good a day. the reason red wine is good is because it has some ingredients in it which helps unclog the heart and reduces the risk of heart attack. but remember, only a bit!!

a small amount of red wine...because of the grapes. but guess what...studies say eating the red grapes or drinking the purple grape juice gives you the benefits too...the wine amount differs for men and women, i think, and it is not more than a glass a day or the alcohol CAUSES more health problems than it is supposed to prevent.
