The comparisons of the Shelby GT-H being the same as the GT-500 are inaccurate. The two cars are worlds apart.
Shelby GT-H = 330 HP, Automatic Tranny
Shelby GT500 = 500 HP, Tremec 6 spd. Manual
I have read various articles that have put the GT-500's 0-60 times at anywhere between 4.3 and 4.8 seconds, depending on the driver and the track conditions.
Good luck getting your hands on a GT500, though. They are being sold on eBay for anywhere between $55k-$60K, which is roughly $15K-$20K above MSRP. You can get the Charger SRT 8 for much less.
Or, you could wait for the Shelby GT (not GT-H and not GT500) which will also have 330 HP (like the GT-H) but will be available thru the regular network of dealers. But, I bet that one will also go for well over MSRP. Nice ride, though.

there is a article about the shelby in muscle mustangs and fast fords feb. 2007 issue. i doesn`t give a 0-60 but it does give the 1/4 mile run. 12.380 @ 115.38mph. then they mostly start puting ad ons on the car. getting the times a little faster.i will quote a little from the article and maybe it will help out,"WE ALL KNOW THAT THE GT500 IS FAST RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. FORD DID A MARVELOUS JOB IN ENGINEERING A CAR THAT-DESPITE ITS 2-TON WIEGHT- WILL HANG WITHS CHEVYS CORVETTE AND WITH THE RIGHT DRIVER CAN ALMOST HANG WITH CHRYSLER`S BIG DOG AT THE DRAGSTRIP" there is no talk about the charger so i am very curious myself.

I don't claim to know the answer but a rental car is not the same as a GT-500 which is a Carrol Shelby joint venture with Ford SVT. While the Dodge is a special automobile it is basically a line interruption car, where the manufacturer picks a number of chassis to modify with drop-ins and ad-on pieces D/C did it with great effect once again. The chief difference between the 2 is availability, a Ford dealer has to hock his heart lung and kidney transplant to get one, the Dodge dealer has but to order it.
