I was given this to me by a man outside my university last semester, I accepted and said, "Thank you" not wanting to be rude. I laid it on a shelf until now, when I threw it away.

I don't know who this guy was. There were several of them standing outside the doors handing them out to everyone.

No, the book itself is not sacred. The message inside is, but the book itself is paper and leather. If you choose to ignore God's existance and insist on being your own god, then yes you are on the broad and easy path to hell, but it has nothing to do with throwing away the bible.

Not if you go sift through the garbage, find it, and pray to God and say ......."God, I know I'm a murderer a adulterer a thief and a liar..........I repent of my retched wickedness and immoral depravity and ask that Jesus Christ come into my heart and be my personal Lord and Savior"..........then I think He might reconsider.
