You will know when you become a parent and when you will reach the oldage. How much you miss them if they are not with you when you really need them. If you care for your parents now, your children will also care for you.

All people are not attached to their parents. For those who are, it may be the time spent together has created a bond, much was learned from parents, and maybe some parents have been a great influence and inspiration to their children.

We are really not--if they are good parents we want to be with them--but if they bring us down in life we can make a choice as an adult to cut ties.
My dad was never there for me as a child but he is now so I keep in modest contact with him.
My mom raised me and was a horrible mother. She tried to help me out after my div and got way too controlling--put me down--called me a whore-so I told her I didn't need her "help" anymore and haven't heard from her in months. I learned the lesson from my parents that we need to see our children as autonomous people. I really--sorry I feel this way-but could live my life never seeing my parents again. My dad helps me on his terms and my mom is just her--can't take it anymore--as she forgets the physical abuse and emotional abuse she put me through--it comes through when she watched my kids--she says I am a bad mom so they act up--I know it is her--so glad she is out of my life.
We are only attached of we choose to be--

We are brought into the world and form our first bonds with our parents. We need them from the first day of our lives and continue those bonds, unless broken through extreme circumstances, throughout our lives. As children, we idealize our parents and seek their attention and approval in our every action. This need for approval and love shapes our personalities and helps to dictate who we become, where ever we may end up.

i think it's cause we have been with them since before we are born and they take care of us always so i think it's just natural that we are attached to them

You love them. They love you. But there is also a time to detach and find your life partner and not who they choose for you.

Hey! When you get unattached, ask that question again. If mine were here now, I'd throw my arms around them both and not let go!!

Unconditional love, I guess. They took care of us, etc....and then in the end, they would probably need our care. n
