Now that Christians have to worry about this, I wonder how long it will take before they adopt the Mormon belief that the living can save the dead so the dead will go to heaven?

No but my mom is far from being a Christian, in fact last month she called me a religious fanatic...... And even though it saddens me, if she died without changing her beliefs, my religion does hold that she will go to hell..... But I have never thought of hell as a place of torture or burning. In hell your bodies will be immortal so you wont feel pain or fire of any kind.... The main emotion I would describe hell with is emptiness.

i can comprehend your emotions of isolation. My husband and that i prepare Orthodox Judaism. My family participants stems from Catholicism, and his from Reformed Judaism. this would create a super sort of stress and rigidity while faith is pronounced in communique, or maybe while making plans visits. We observe Sabbath, and devour strictly kosher. i've got been informed that my observance could look as though this variety of burden, yet i'm only doing what feels top to me. I truthfully have by no ability had an criminal accountability to evangelise to my family participants, and experience uncomfortable speaking approximately my ideals till asked. on your case, you have an apprehension of how your ideals will influence the non-religious on your place. you prefer to shop them, and that i comprehend that is considering the fact which you like them. in the top there is just one decision; you're able to stay as an occasion of the Golden Rule, and handle others as you will prefer to be dealt with. Create communicate approximately faith so as that they do no longer develop into threatened once you prefer to speak approximately your ideals, and then reciprocate. that's a mushy situation for each individual. admire and bounds could be made. sturdy success.

No, all of my family are fanatical christians, more's the pity. But if they weren't, that would be all the more reason for me not to believe, because who wants to believe that people they love are being tortured?

I think my uncle Darrel, my mothers brother, and maybe my mothers dad, my grandfather, and maybe my nana, my dads mum and my grandfather on the dads side. I believe they are in hell now. Although I am not 100% sure, only God knows where they are, but I do not like their chances.

Yes, and your question shows the true problem. You expect a double standard. The truth is I don't always like the way things are, but I must submit to his will. We do not get to pick and choose what we believe. If we do we make our self god and sentence ourselves to the same fate.
