No...I haven't taken any of those that come in my spam mail and offer extravagant awards. But I've heard from people who have...they said they take your credit card number, ask you to sign up for all sorts of offers, and I've never heard of anyone actually getting the IPOD (or laptop or whatever).
It's always dangerous to sign up for things through un-solicted mail--these are often phishing schemes trying to get your information.
There are companies who do pay for surveys, but expect smaller amounts ($0.50 - $15 per survey is the norm...rarely higher than $15). I've listed tips on how to tell the legitimate surveys from the scams here:

Go ahead and complete the survey, but brace yourself for an onslaught spam e-mails for Viagra, online poker and dating services.
I have a special hotmail account that I use only for these surveys; and surprise, surprise, I get dozens of spam messages to that account each day.
And I've yet to win an iPod.
