I think it all depends on the guy. Parents are going to have rules because they were young once. If you are just trying to date and not thinking bout anything serious then you can date while still living with your parents. They might have some rules for you to follow, and sometimes they are looking out for you. I think that if a relationship is good and strong then it will survive. If you start dating while living with your parents and the relationship starts to get serious, then it will last long enough for you to become independent and see where things really are going. If you both still feel the same way about each other then it may be real. Love takes time and even then, things still go wrong. I'm living with my proof, ;-) we've been through thick and thin but we still together.

Now this is a question I wish more guys asked...haha. In some ways yes, in some ways no. You are a boy, you will always have that connection with your mom, because of the role she's played in your life, but at the same time, depending on the relationship you have with your mother, it may NOT be a good idea until you are on your own and able to make your own independent choices, because she MAY want to intrude. Not to scare you or anything. :o) But I think you shouldn't let your feelings for a girl come between those of yours and your mom's.
Hope I helped.

Define independent. You don't need to wait until you move out before you get a g/f. I only waited until I was slightly independent. Ie. Having my own car, or having a real income are plenty to sustain a relationship.

No, you should date while you are in high school and beyond. It would be nice and show initiative to go out and get a job to show that you are on the road to independence. Now if you are older than 23 and still depending on your parents then I think you need to stop dating and get yourself together first!

It depends on what kind of relationship you want.
Anyway, i don't think you need to be independant of your parents. Maybe u might need theri approval when you are younger, but rules were made to be broken anyway!

Maybe in traditional Nigerian cultures, or somewhere. In the US, no. The young lady should be introduced to the young man's parents, and be treated as a guest of his family when she visits. The same is true when he visits her home.

Yes. Otherwise your parents pay for everything. Plus when things get hot and heavy, can you afford a baby?
