I am moving from my parents house to my own apartment in April. I adopted a Jack Russell in July. He's a great dog, but he's a little neurotic and kind of clingy.

Fortunatly, there's not doubt that I'm his favorite person and will have pretty much all of the same furniture, but I'm afraid it's going to be a big change in lifestyle for him.

As it is now, he isn't kenneled while I'm at work. Should I change that in the new place? He really hates it, and he's very well behaved.

Do you have any tips to make the move easier for him.

I also have a Westie... but I doubt she'll even notice we're somewhere different, ha! She's very laid back.

i think just move the dog if you love it when you do give it lots of attention and bye it special treets for being good and just spoile him for a few weeks so that he relizes it is ok where he is at

my dog is the same very clingy and doesn't like he kennel because most dogs are very annoying for him.

but last year alone we moved 3 times and he was fine.i just let my dog have free run of our place when i leave home and i just make sure that everything is out of his reach.but he is a good dog.never chew anything when his alone. the longest hour i leave him at home is 6 hrs.

I'm only going to put him in a kennel(a nice one, like pet smart pet hotel) is when I'll be gone for 24 hrs or more.

I would look into a Doggie Daycare place. So he wouldnt act up while you were at work. As for the move, he will be fine. It might even be exciting for him. Give hima doggie downer to relax him if he gets nervous.
