No homophobia is not a disease, more like a belief or perception. I am not religious, but religions do to be against homosexual acts, but they don't hate the person. Most religions base this belief on Natural Law, that you can't find homosexuality in nature, and since it doesn't lead to reproduction, it is more of a perverted, self serving interest. I don't know know, I am no religious scholar. Is it right or wrong, you will have to be the judge. Chow

Not a disease, just ignorance.
I don't think religion helps spread it. At least not any mainline religions. The mainline religions that are against homosexuality don't encourage hate. Those religions are just used to justify it by those who are.
Let me put it this way. If you want to use Christianity as an example, the Christian bible has 7 (count 'em) passages that might say homosexuality is wrong, and every one of them is questionable as to its exact meaning and relevance to our day and age. Compare that with literally hundreds of passages about "justice for the poor." If it were the religion's fault, and not the fault of ignorant people trying to justify their ignorance, why is homophobia so widespread and yet not socialism? Why do these people keep electing republicans?
So in short, I don't think it's any religion's fault, no. But unfortunately, it is weakly (emphasize that) justifiable to disapprove of homosexuality based on it. It is NOT justifiable to hate, however, and well, yeah, people just suck....

Not a disease. Biologically speaking homosexuals should be gone by now, but your not so whats up with that? Anyways, i can see why people don't like homosexuals becasue of our culture and society, why do people expect instant change from others? We might have some instinct to get rid of homosexuals as they do nothing for the overall health of the species. Just a thought. I could care less, my brother is gay and i have no problem with it, but i'm happy that his genes will be leaving the pool. It must be recessive.

No, it is not a disease. Hypocritical liberals think anything that doesn't support their agenda is a disease. Homophobia is a choice, as is homosexuality. Nothing genetic about either.
\Please do not demean someone's personal choice. That is, after all, the creed of all liberals.

Homophobia is a myth,..no one is afraid of gay people. Some dislike them. Most dont care one way or another, and others like you try to stick labels on people that make no sense.
Interesting thing is Christians belong to all three groups..just like everyone else. An atheist friend of mine really dislikes gay people. I fall into the dont care one way or another and im christian.

I wouldn't call it a disease, but it's definitely wildly wide spread. I think religion does have a roll in it. Too bad religion has such a hold on this world.

no, its a state of mind, but you know that already, dont you? of course religion helps, but the bible says its wrong. when people have things drilled into their heads for years, what do you expect them to think. i think theres alot of ignorance on both sides. its too bad people cant be people without a label.
