Two other ways:
1. Taking a literal word for word meaning.
2. Taking the symbolic meaning behind the story.

I do see your point though too. You can twist almost any story to support your opinions.

Most interesting query . What about getting information? Gathering sociological data. Historical reference?

i read what it says, but I know what you mean. MOST religions don't even read from the bible, for example, they have preprinted misalettes that have untrue accounts in them. Messed up.

Correction......the HOLY BIBLE

One cannot have God for his Father, who will not have the Church for his Mother, and likewise, one cannot have the Word of God for his faith who will not have the Church for his teacher.
