We are not what most everyone thinks we are and things are not what they seem.
God is Spirit and He created us spirits in His image. Created innocent and ignorant, we are to attain to spiritual perfection by coming here to earth to learn and develop ourselves. After we graduate from this school, then we will be entitled to live forever in God’s kingdom, the true world, the heaven promised to those who have earned the right to enter there.
While on earth, we learn from our personal experiences. We learn from the good, but also from the bad. We experience all the faces of life. From adversity, we develop strength. We get better at life as we go. Perfection is our goal.
No screw up, our God and Father. Begin to think Spirit. Think God.

Hello,
We need to understand the phrase "God created man in his image."
Bible tells us in
Genesis 1:26 And God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:"
Let us analyze what is indeed the likeness between God and man. How does God say man is like him? Bible says in
Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil:
The Bible clearly states that the likeness of man with God is in knowing evil from good. Further, the Bible clarifies in
Numbers 23:19 GOD IS NOT A MAN, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:
Here the Bible tells us that God is not like man. Yet, some people tend to argue that this verse (Numbers 23:19) is only about God not lying and repenting.
Again we read in Bible, in Genesis 6: 6, 1 Samuel 15: 35 and
Exodus 32: 14 that God "repented".
There are many verses in the Bible that prove that God is unlike man. The premises that "God is like man" or "God created man in his image [literally]" are erroneous.
It is man who is screwed up. Almighty God is Perfect, imperfections are human.

Just because God created us in his image doesn't mean that we remained that way. That is a silly question.

Wow, do I, at least now, understand the meaning of
" hitting the nail on the head"
But some would still maintain
'screw on the floor is better than the nail on the wall'
you just cannot make them see any sense.

God, the Heavenly Father, is perfect and He cannot lie.
Genesis 1:26
(KJ21, 21st Century King James Version)
26And God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
(ESV, English Standard Version)
26Then God said, "Let us make man[a] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
Footnotes:
[a] Genesis 1:26 The Hebrew word for man (adam) is the generic term for mankind and becomes the proper name Adam

What a great question!
How did that song go? "What if god were one of us? Just a slob like one of us?"
I always liked that song because, from the looks of us, god really is a slob!
