I've had oily hair ever since I hit puberty. Let me tell you, I've tried almost all of the oily hair shampoos out there... drugstore brands, salon, all-natural... and I have yet to find a product that truly helps.
I don't really think there's much we can do to get rid of this problem, but I find that any type of clarifying shampoo followed by a light conditioner on the ends only will help. The Pantene clarifying shampoo -- it's a clear blue color -- will give you a deep clean without making your hair feel like straw. I also like the Aussie shampoo and conditioner (it just changed it's name to "double mend") a lot. It treats and greasy scalp AND dry ends.
I personally don't believe that "don't wash your hair every day" crap. The people that say that don't have oily hair and don't have any idea how disgusting it feels or how itchy it becomes if it hasn't been washed.
Finally, don't run your fingers through your hair too much -- otherwise, it will get even more oily!

Maybe shampooing every other day, using a good shampoo and conditioner just for your hair type and then use a natural rinse to add shine and body! What I have recommended in the past is a vinegar/ water mixture... lemon/ water also works and the best one of all is flat beer... the whole can... no drinking it at all ok! I have used beer on hair after shampooing and it is wonderful! It makes the hair shiny, bouncy and full of body! It also removes the shampoo residue that might be left behind... the beer has to be flat... and then it will smell unless you sit under a hair dryer to remove the odor! But it does work well... I used it regularly on a weekly client at a beauty college! I've also used the lemon & vinegar! Good luck !

I have the same problem with mine. By trial and error and reading numerous sites I discovered part of the problem is diet, certain food/drinks can cause skin/hair to become more oily. Sometimes its something that is not even listed anywhere as to causing oily skin and hair (for some strange reason when I drank alot of soda pop my hair would become super oily fast) The best thing you can do is
1) After washing hair if you must apply a conditioner (sometimes top part of hair is oily and bottom is dry/damaged) only apply to the middle to ends of your hair, never at the roots, we have enough oil there, we dont need anything else
2) A dandruff shampoo actually helped MY hair, try it and see if it helps yours, wont hurt to try. (even though I have no dandruff, just oily hair especially at the roots)
3) If you are in a hurry and already washed your hair that morning but find by later in the day it is oily again, you can do a quick fix by LIGHTLY applying baby powder to your hair then combing it in (best way in my experience is to apply the baby powder to the brush then comb through hair focusing at the roots, make sure is blended, and repeat, but do not overdo it or it will be noticable.
4) You can also use a light spritz at the roots of your hair (this will also help give your hair a appearance of more volume) It seems the alcohol that is in it helps combat the oil a bit
**These methods are what I have personally tried and have actually worked for me** Hope this helps! =)

lol that's normal! but um, showering every more then three days is unhygenic. My hair is like yours. I don't use any oily hair shamppo stuff. Just take a shower every second day. No effence, but i would think more then three days is somewhat abnormal for certain hair types. But, lets say you're in a situation like you only have 5 minutes to fix your hair, sprinkle some baby powder on your head, it helps..but still not as good as just washing your hair more often!

My stylist told me to change shampoos occasionally and that seems to help mine. Neutrogena is what I use for 2-3 weeks and then I go back to what I normally use.
