Fluffy White Rice:

Rinsing the rice reduces its starchiness, making for a fluffy, not sticky, product.

1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
1 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Place rice in a large bowl. Rinse with water 3 or 4 times or until water is no longer cloudy. Drain.

Bring rice, 1 1/2 cups water, and oil to a boil in a heavy saucepan. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes or until done. Remove from heat, and let stand 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork.

Yield: 4 servings

If you eat a lot of rice buy a rice cooker and follow the instructions.
If you have a microwave buy a microwave rice cooker-put rice in container, place finger tips into container and fill with water one knuckle above rice.
For fluffy rice rinse three to four times before cooking.
If you want to make fried rice cook it the day before and leave it over night in the fridge.

In a Rice cooker - I just got one a few months ago and I can't believe I waited so long. You just put in the rice and the water set the button and let it go, once it's done you can use it in any recipe and it is perfect every time. I amazed that even my 9yr old can make perfect rice on the first try!

You will need a medium sized pan or pot with at tight fitting lid. Put 2 cups of water in a pan.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt (less if you prefer less salt).
Bring to a fast boil over high heat.
Add 1 cup of rice. (do not rinse rice)
Do not stir.
Put on the lid to cover.
Lower heat and simmer on low for 20 minutes.
The rice will be tender and all the water will be absorbed.
Fluff with fork.
Perfect rice every time.

Buy rice.
Clean rice.
If you have a rice cooker, pour in however many cups of rice you want and add water.
(For example, 2 cups of rice=3 cups of water, etc.) Wait 20-30 minutes.
If you don't have a rice cooker, grab yourself a regular sized pot, pour in however many cups of rice you want and add water. Wait 25-45 minutes.
If you really want to make life easier, go to a grocery store and buy white rice that you can toss in the microwave and eat.
