i could write out a whole list of spells and such, but i would just defer to Prariecrow, they seem to know what they are talking about and much of what i say would be redundent at this point.

In order to use it, you must somehow manage to introduce a thin column of graphite into the center of the wand. Having done that, you must bring one end of the wand to a sharp point, exposing a bit of the graphite in the center.

To test whether you have done these things successfully, find a piece of paper without any signs or pictures or writing on it. Lay the paper on a flat surface. Now, touch the sharpened end of the rod with the exposed graphite to the paper. Maintaining light, but even pressure move the sharpened end of the wand across the paper.

If you find, when you have lifted the wand from the paper, that there is a line drawn where you moved the wand across the paper, you have succeeded!

You have made a pencil.

I believe a wand is only a tool to focus your mind and energy. I don't think it needs to be blessed or consecrated or anything. You should probably make sure you made it out of the right kind of wood, though. Most pagans/wiccans/all the others out there believe that certain plants and trees have special properties and are conducive to certain uses.

Give me a second, I'll dig out a consecration spell for you...

And here we go. This is the format our Full Moon group uses, and with a little bit of customization, it should work pretty well for you. Once the item is conscrated... well, opinions differ. Some Wiccans (I can only speak for Wicca) will permit others to touch or even use their ritual tools; others prefer to keep them for themselves. It's really up to you.

A word of advice, though... just speaking the words won't really do the job. You have to visualize the rise and flow of energy, and the action of the energy you raise empowering and consecrating the wand.

Hope this helps!

RITUAL TOOL/JEWELLERY CONSECRATION
(from Winnipeg Full Moon Group practice)

When the Lord and the Lady have joined us in our circle, we will ask for Their blessings as we charge and consecrate the items on the altar. Since this is a full moon ritual we will use a simple chant to raise energy, with accompanying hand gestures:

“The Goddess is above me,
The Goddess is below me,
The Goddess is before me,
The Goddess is behind me,
The Goddess is around me,
The Goddess is within me.”

When the energy has reached an appropriate level, we will direct it onto the altar to infuse the tools and jewellery. Each person will step forward, pick up their item, and present it to the Lord and the Lady with a formal statement of consecration.

For example: “I consecrate you, O knife of steel (wand of wood, necklace of gold, etc)
To cleanse and purify you to serve me within the Circle.
In the names of the Mother Goddess and the Father God,
You are consecrated. So mote it be.”

Or: “By the will of the Lord and the Lady, I have empowered this (item). May Their blessings shine upon and through it always.”

The tool/jewellery may also be consecrated with the elements: by immersing it in or touching it with blessed salt and water, and by passing it through a cloud of incense smoke from an incense burner.

The best way to bless your wand is for you to make a spell yourself.
I don't like to use other people's spells because it doesn't make it feel like my own, you know?
And yes, only YOU should use to project your thoughts and prayers (spells) to the divine.

I hope you find this helpful!!
