When you mix breeds together you never know how they turn out. Your dog could be as small as a Rat Terrier or take after the Beagle size when full grown. If you train the dog right, it can be great with kids - keep in mind you have a terrier and a hound - both are active dogs. House train the dog like any other one - take the dog out for potty several times a day, especially after meals.

You will never get an accurate answer, it is guess work. If you know the parents and grand parents and if you are lucky enough to know the great grandparents, then you'll have a better chance of predicting how large this cross breed is going to be.

Generally it will not be bigger than the biggest of the two parents. So you can at least go with that end of the spectrum.

I don't know if that was of much help...

This might not help but we have a Beagle/Husky mix and he is about 40lbs and is built more like a Beagle with Beagle ears but marked exactly like a sable Husky
