Yes. Salmonella can cause dysentery, which can lead to dehydration, sepsis or malnutrition, which can kill. Salmonella causes typhoid, in which there can be complications like intestinal bleeding and perforation, which can kill. The younger and more malnourished the child, the worse is the infection and higher is the mortality.
