Could take from 0 to a really big number.
If you just bite it, that's 0 licks. If you have a dry mouth, you can lick it 1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 times... Maybe even 100,000! And you might still not get to the center. Easiest way to get to the center is to smash it with a hammer.

Like the owl says.....3..... however I did try to beat that,but I still didnt get to the tootsie roll center,I could never resist before bitting.
