Hot tea with lemon and honey, and gargle several times with salted water. However - if you're running a fever or if your throat becomes so sore that it's hard to swallow - GO see you doctor - it could be strep and you'll need to have a culture done and be put on antibiotics! Strep can be dangerous so don't mess around!

Let's hope your tonsil is not swelling. Otherwise, you have to see a doctor.
Boiled crushed ginger is good for sore throat. Boil 2 inch-crushed ginger with 2 liters of water for 20 minutes. Drink when a little bit warm. Drink 3 times a day. Should have improvement at the end of the day.
Or green lemon grass. Place 5 inches lemon grass leaf in a mug. Add boiling water and let it stand for one minute. Drink while still warm. Drink 3 times a day. Should have improvement at the end of the day.

Providing you dont have strep or something else serious, try teas by TRADITIONAL MEDICINAL called THROAT COAT or HERBATUSSIN.Try herbal teas specifically made for respitory ailments.Stay away from spicy/hot food/drinks till better. For home remedies try whole squeezed lemon w/hot water&honey. You could dissolve throat lozenge in hot water w/honey.Suck throat drops/lozenges. Try zinc ones too.Do gargle 3-4x daily w/salt water or a lil peroxide w/water.Sometimes I alternate. Even warm broth may sooth throat irritation/inflammation. Most warm beverages will soothe but try and stay away from coffee. No yelling.(LOL)Hope this helps. GET WELL SOON!
