i like this older guy but i have no experience dating or anything and i think he might think of me as a 'little sister type' but he does stare at me and smile and laugh at my jokes-even ones that aren't funny. still, i think i may act immature and stupid trying to flirt with him....aren't there any ways to catch his eye and let him know i'm serious about him and i'm interested..without being too obvious and ruining our friendship??

My dear, I think you have already caught his eye. He is staring at you and paying you attention by laughing at even your bad jokes. Be patient and just keep being your cute little self and wait for him to make the first move. You can throw hints but don't come on too strong and scare him off. Whenever he makes a comment about your jokes, maybe you could toss a sly comment back his way. Something like, "I could really get attached to someone who appreciates my jokes." or maybe saying, "Do all the girls think you are as great as I think you are?" Try to keep the moment still light and funny, not deep and really serious. It is an obvious flirt but maybe he'll catch on and follow up with something you really want to hear. Be cute and coy, using your personality that he already likes to get into his mind and help him think your direction. Guys aren't the only ones who can play the game! We just let them think they are! :) LOL

No one is answering because we've all been there and usually....you just have to take the risk. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes you get a little burned. Hmmm....maybe you could start with something really benign like...if you see him sitting somewhere say, "Hey - I'm going to buy a (insert beverage...coffee, soda, whatever). Can I get you anything?" OR if you know what he likes, what better way to show him that you pay attention than to just bring him a cup/glass of his favorite whatever he drinks. OR you could try the whole, "I have an extra ticket to....whatever" and then gradually lead in to slightly more serious conversations.

Just be yourself, and try talking to him seriously about how you feel,if he feels the same way then take it from there. Word of advice it's ok in the beginning of the relationship to be silly sometime, but don't make a habit of it, guys get tired of that sillyness after awhile.Good luck

You just answered your own question don't be too obvious, I cannot tell you what to do that would definitely make him want to be with you b/c you only know him and his personality. I would just try to be more laid back and see if he notices maybe he wants you to be more laid back before he decides that he wants to be with you!!

Just be kind, nice, friendly with him and if he is interested in the same way you hope he is, he will let you know. If not, then he is not interested in anything more than a little sister. Take your time and be patient.

Maybe you should try to be a little more serious around him. Keep flirting with him but in a more serious sophisticated way -- if that even exists.

Experience or none,when you care about someone,age should not be a factor.
try to show an interest in everything he does when you are together.say something if you share common interests.he might like that.

just be straight up and ask him why he keep smiling at you is it because he like what he see or just tell him he has a pretty smile and it makes you feel good to see some one with a smile on their face

tell him you like him. if he he says that he likes you back thats awesome. but if he doesnt feel the same way, ask him not to tell anybody your conversation. besides, if he does say no, in 20 years you will look back and laugh.

try flirting with him a little more and see if he flirts back.
alot of guys are pretty oblivious when it comes to girls so you might have to be obvious if you really want him.
