i have a wonderful daughter that is almost 15 months old, she has had some trouble since she was born, reflux, gaining weight because she was allergic to her formula, we finally got her back on track with that, it took her awhile to crawl, i wanted her to be walking at her 1 year birthday party but it didnt happen, she is almost 15 months, and everyone is always asking me"is she walking yet", and make comments like she should be walking by now, her doctor doesnt seem concernced, she can stand now, hold on to the furtniture and get around, i am just worried that i should be doing something or talking 2 a doctor, is this normal for a 15 month old girl??

Oh my dear, bless this little child who by the sounds of it has had a tough start. My boys were quick to pick everything up. My daughter is behind them in everything when they were her age. (she will be 2 march 7th). Help your child and praise her even for the small steps around the chairs. If the doctor is not concerned about it, just relax a little, these little babes are only babes for so long, she will get it and watch out when she does. Just make her feel special, like nothing is wrong, because nothing is wrong (your doctor would have told you). My daughter didn't really walk all that well until she was about 16 months old. It will be ok. Good luck to your family:)

Our older daughter didn't walk until she was 15 months. And she only did a really weird crawl until then. When she did walk, though, she just got up and did it.

Our younger daughter, though, was walking at 9 or 10 months. Guess she had to keep up with (or escape from?) big sis? :)

It's totally normal. Your pediatrician isn't worried because he/she knows that. If she's not walking at her 18 month check up, tell your pediatrician your concerns. But I bet she'll be walking in no time, and in two months you'll be laughing, wondering why you EVER wanted her up and walking around!

babies should be walking by 15 months--that is the "deadline" to be walking without being concerned, but anything before that is perfectly normal. I would wait until she IS 15 months before getting concerned or taking her to the doctor. Some babies are just slower than others and that has NOTHING to do with intelligence. Babies who walk at 15 months are not statistically any less intelligent than those who walk at 8. She may need an evaluation to make sure everything is okay, but chances are is fine and is just taking a little longer.

Yes! It is normal. Don't worry and certainly don't listen to these rude people's comments! Especially if your doctor is not worried. Geesh. Just be patient. You daughter had had some rough times and she is just taking her time with walking. My niece didn't walk until she was 18 months old and she is now a healthy, smart, happy 9-year-old. Just keep in touch with the pediatrician to be sure she is on track still and if someone asks, think of a snappy reply.

I wouldn't be concerned about it as long as her doctor isn't. All kids are different, and they reach milestones at different ages. I don't know why, but in our society, we seem to be so competitive. A baby that starts walking at 9 months isn't necessarily any smarter than a baby that starts walking at a year or later. Just enjoy it for now, because before you know it she will be walking, and you won't be able to keep up with her. Best or luck.

She's fine. All children progress at different rates. My son started walking before he was 1. My middle child..a girl didn't start walking until she was almost 2. My youngest started walking when she was about 2 1/2. When she's ready she'll walk. Just keep working with her. I used walkers. I thought they were more helpful than dangerous.

what matters is that she is progressing. You say she is standing and "getting around" (I assume you mean she is cruising, i.e. walking while holding on to furniture). This is the natural progression towards walking unassisted. I think this is normal. Now if in a month or two, she has not progressed any further, you might want to speak to her doctor again, and possibly get her evaluated then.

It is normal thay she isn't walking some kids don't start until 18 months or so as long as she is standing that shows she has good muscle tone which is the most important. My cousin didn';t walk until she was almost 2.

I wouldnt say it was normal but every child develops at theyre own pace ....all 3 of my kids walked at different ages my last was also the oldest when he started walking. you said that she was slower to crawl maybe she is just playing catch up. If her DR isnt worried I wouldnt be either but be proactive and practice with her as much as you can get her into.

As long as she is making progress in the direction of walking, which you indicate she is by pulling herself up on the furniture and cruising that way. Don't compare you child to the one next door that was running at 9 months. Every baby developes at their own pace, just watch for those milestones in her development and enjoy watching her grow.
