Around 300,000 books have been written about Napoleon...so why do people say that more books have been written about Jesus than any other person?

...Carnac....your ability to deny reality is amazing. Are you going to sit there and honestly believe that Amazon.com has a copy of every single book ever written?

Interesting point. However, I don't see the reason for it. I mean, the same could be said about many historical figures. I'll bet Julius Caesar has had a lot of books where he's mentioned, and I am just pulling that name out of the air. But what does it prove other than people have written more books about one person than another?
I've never heard anyone say "more books have been written about Jesus than any other person" - and if I were told that, I would probably dispute it too.
"How do you know?" would be my answer.
People that perpetuate this kind of propaganda are the same that believe blindly in faith and religions of various types without any actual evidence to back it up, simply because they were told to. Pick any religion in the world, they all have their own agendas, their own inaccuracies with history, their own contradictions. Meanwhile, people blindly believe because that's what they were taught.
I honestly believe that religions were invented to keep simple minded people at bay. How can someone like George W. Bush be as right wing Christian as he is, but be so adamantly against stem cell research, which could save lives? Simply put - because someone at church told him it was wrong.
Hundreds of examples of this same thing in society.
I digress. In the end, nobody knows who is mentioned more in books unless they do the research. So, if someone I knew said that more books have been written about Jesus than any other person, I'd call them on it and say prove it.
Good question, real thinker. Sorry for getting off topic for a minute. :)

In order to make a comparison, you would have to know how many book have been written about Jesus. Do you even know? However, even if you were right, it's not quantity but the subject that's important. Napoleon has never offered eternal life to anyone who believed in him. And the greatest books ever written about Jesus (the collection in the Bible) are read zillions of times, over and over again, memorized, treasured, and responsible for changed lives, while I venture to say that most of the 300,000 books about Napoleon are gathering dust in some vault. Sorry, what was your point?

I'm sorry I just dont buy it - its kind of funny you say religious people argue about the bible being the most sold book - well it is!
This might have been true once but as I said before, think how many books are being produced about Napoleon now and how many about Jesus?
Wait a minute the most sold book IS the bible - how the hell does 300,000 or a million books being written about Napoleon change that?

It's partially true. More books have been written about Jesus - however, I would assume that 85% of so of these books are factually inaccurate from a historical and critical standpoint. In essence, these books are written by believers to believers to promote belief. However, when it comes to peer-reviewed books, Napoleon dominates.

The usual claim is that more Bibles have been sold than any other book, and I believe that to be so. As for books on the subject of Jesus, I have no idea.

Yes, I believe you. I guess people just don't think about how many books are written about other people. It really doesn't matter because probably more people ready books about Jesus than they do about Napoleon.

Is there a point you are trying to make? What's the relevance?
There are more books about Bill Clinton than George W. Bush also ... That certainly don't make Bill a saint.

no big deal in Napoleons time there were printing presses ,and many people doing everything he demanded and he was famous ,and rich.
of course they would write more books about him
much later in History and much more advanced .
Jesus was scrawling on walls and in the sand ,and poor
manipulating extraterrestrials were scribbling away on Papyrus, only one book finaly got it together ,and became a best seller ,but after many years.

FYI, searching for "Jesus" on Amazon Books gets 179,418 hits while Napoleon gets 74,814 hits.
Still, if it will get you to shut up, I'll concede that the websites you cite prove that you are right. After all, if it's written on the web, it must be right.
