Guantanamo was seized by the US as spoils of the Spanish-American war of 1898, and was presented as a done deal to the newly created Cuban government. Cuba does have a case pending against the US at the International Court in the Hague arguing, correctly. that coerced treaties are illegal and null and void. Of course, nothing will come of this.

Well, our base on Cuba is a hostile base. It is not a friendly base on location by agreement. We forced Cuba to tolerate this arrangement. The soldiers on Guantanamo are on high alert at all times.

the USA was renting guantanamo before castro took over, and refused to leave.
The USA sends like 200 bucks a year to lease the land.
