Phars, a 3 year old cockatiel, whos a cheerful , heathly, compainion bird likes takes a bath everyday. I'll spray him with the mist. I'll put him ontop of his cage and spray in one area, then wait, and he'll run over to the spot, and I'll keep on spraying him untill he moves away. He puts his wings in the air a fluffs himself out, spreades his tail out, and moves around as if he's danceing. After about the 4th bottle refill, he'll normally move away. He's quite a beauty king and spends most of his time either preening, whistleing to himself at the mirror, talking to me, or trying to find a new way to keep his toys in a organized fasion, such as putting the play balls in one corner, or trying to get all the strings put back together. I reaggrange/switch the toys out about every week, always trying to find some way to make him happy. He gets two hours of playing atop his cage everyday. My question is, how much should I be spraying him(bottles)? He dosen't like takeing baths in the sink...

Sounds like you're taking great care of your 'tiel.

As long as your home is warm, bathing him every day shouldn't be a problem. As far as how much water to mist him with, he'll let you know when he's done, apparently he already does. :)

Cockatiels are really supposed to be bathed. They are the kind of bird that does just fine with a dust bath. Next time your at the pet store look at the cocatiel book, you'll see I right. We have 4 cockatiels, and they'll get in the cats water bowl only occasionally, and I think it's more play than bathing.

when he has had enough he will move away as he does so you are doing it right for the bird but he sounds a bit spoiled. if you enjoy spraying for that long keep doing it wont harm the bird & moving things is a good idea as they can get bored quiet fast.
mine only goes into his cage to sleep or eat always sitting on my sholder or following me around inside & outside even in the car to the shops only ever fly,s a little way away & always watches where i am so dont get lost

From my experience with my cockateils they will let you know when they have had enough. My birds had me fully trained in no time. Sounds like you are almost fully trained by your birds too. Keep up the good work of spoiling them and tending to their ever need. Dont forget the fresh fruit and vegies every day.

wow he shore does like water.. A little to much I think.. Try to limit his bath to two times or three times a week. You are washing his oils off. It could end up with dry skin and he may start to pluck.

The amount of water is fine.. But if you are to use less.. you can bath him a bit more offent.

just bathe your bird until he/she is happy! They usually love water and as long as they are happy and clean, everything is good. Just make sure it is long enough based on how much u bathe it.

My tile loved getting sprayed, but not with bottles at a time. I am sure he will let ya know tho.

If he doesn't like the sink...
try the pasta pot
maybe the roasting pan
as for how long, depends if you like it rare or well done.
:)
Just kidding. I know nothing about birds other than they taste yummy.
Good luck, I hope you get this question answered by someone knowledgeable in the subject. :)
